Counseling That Starts Where You Are

Therapy works when the fit is right, and fit is not a soft consideration — it is the single best predictor of whether counseling helps. Our counselors are trained across a range of therapeutic approaches. We use that range deliberately: the approach is selected for the person and the problem. Therefore, every client is not run through the one model the practice happens to favor.

In practice that means we meet clients where they are instead of telling them where they should be. The room is non-judgmental by design. What you bring to it — including the parts you’ve never said to anyone — is treated as information. In fact, it is never treated as a verdict on you.

Who We Work With

We see children, adolescents, adults, and families, for concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship and family difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and co-occurring substance use and mood disorders. Individual and family therapy are all available.

EMDR Therapy for Trauma and Emotional Healing

EMDR Therapy for Trauma and Emotional Healing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an evidence-based therapy for trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. Its premise is that some memories don’t get filed properly. They stay live — intrusive, physically felt, as loud in the present as they were at the time. No amount of reasoning about them settles them down, because the problem isn’t what you believe about the event.

EMDR works on the storage rather than the argument. Guided by a trained clinician, you hold the memory in mind alongside bilateral stimulation while the material is reprocessed. Clients commonly describe the memory afterwards as still accurate but no longer loud — the facts intact, the charge gone.

What EMDR helps with: single-incident trauma such as an accident, assault, or medical event; developmental and complex trauma; PTSD symptoms including flashbacks, nightmares, and hypervigilance; panic and phobias; and anxiety that hasn’t yielded to talk therapy alone.

What to expect: EMDR follows a structured protocol. The early phases are preparation — history, stabilization, and building the coping resources you’ll use before any reprocessing begins. You are not asked to relive anything unprepared, you remain in control of the pace throughout, and you do not have to narrate the event in detail for the therapy to work. All EMDR services are provided by EMDRIA-certified clinicians.

In Person and by Telehealth

Both are available, and both are real therapy — telehealth exists so that care survives a bad week, a sick child, or a car in the shop. Visit our [Meet Our Staff] page to read about our counselors and their areas of expertise. You can also use that page to find the right fit for you.
